THE MOTORCYCLE CHAIN SECRET
What is the secret to getting a motorcycle chain for half the price? If you know what size the chain is and how many links it has you are in business. There are usually three popular sizes. 520, 525, 530. Step 1 is knowing the motorcycle's chain size.
Step 2 is knowing how many links in the motorcycle chain. Most bikes use somewhere between 90 something and 120 links.
For Example: A 1990 Kawasaki Ninja 250 uses a "EK520MV-OX106L". That code tells me it uses a 520 chain with 106 links. Notice the "520" in the first part and "106L" at the end.
The Savings: Now I just go to ebay and find a 520 chain with 106 or more links. If it has more links than 106, I break out the trusty chain breaking tool. Buying chain by size and amount of links reduces the price drastically compared to shopping for a motorcycle chain by bike model.
How do I find out which type of chain my bike uses? Here is how I do it. Go HERE and look up that chain code in the microfiche for your bike. Then come back here and pick out a chain below.
