YAMAHA RD 125 : The Yamaha RD 125 is a special little bike. Like all the RD class two stroke motorcycles, it was wicked fast for the day. I have personally owned one. Well, it was my wife's motorcycle. I don't miss it because it was an electrical lemon. I had my fun on the bike. One of the best handling bikes I have ridden. That's a no brainer due to it being a two hundred and fifty pound machine. In a fine state of tune the RD125 is supposed to do 75 mph. I managed to get ours up to 69. The benefit of this machine is the twin cylinder design. Unlike the singles of the day, it was smooth power and lots of it. I even managed to clutch up a little wheelie out of the RD 125 Yamaha. Although slower than a mediocre fast car, the RD125 has plenty to keep ahead of traffic. The RD125 may be a collectable classic motorcycle, they usually don't go for much. A barn fresh rd 125 motorcycle should not go for more than $500. It will be quite some time before these bikes fetch big prices. |
